I recently attended the Bite of Seattle, known locally as “The Bite” at Seattle Center in downtown Seattle. A 30 year tradition in the Puget Sound, The Bite showcases more than 60 local restaurants, entertainment performances by more than 150 musicians and talented performers, and attractions for all ages and all demographics. The yearly event attracts more than 450,000 people each year.
The first thing I noticed about The Bite as I strolled from Mercer Street was the amount of people. They all seemed happy despite the gray skies on this particular Sunday. A sense community truly shines during an event like this, people of all shapes, sizes, ages, and ethnicity celebrated together.
As I wander with a friend through the nearly 60 food booths & six different entertainment stages, I am amazed by planning and preparation to put together an event of this magnitude. This is not the type of thing you can just wing last minute.
Regardless of the event; wedding, company picnic or community festivals each have a few things in common when it comes to planning. They require a great deal of organization and attention to detail to be successful.
There is usually some kind of food and entertainment; which requires additional planning to coordinate the food, entertainment and any activities that might take place during the event; including Dock Dogs (diving dogs) pictured to the right. Usually the small details at any event go unnoticed when executed and planned properly.
Events create a vibe, a magical vibe I’ve never seen any where else! Weddings, concerts and community events create a moment like no other. People love to celebrate and have a good time. Your event shouldn’t be any different than the Bite of Seattle. Take the time to plan it out and create a vibe that will be remembered for years. Planning an event takes time; but in the end it will be worth it.
